Transformer stuck under bridge during rail transport.
A new transformer was transported from Nijmegen to Baltimore, USA. Between Baltimore to Woodhaven the transformer was transported by rail on an open wagon. The wagon of the train carrying the transformer was shunting underneath a steel bridge. Due to the low clearance of the bridge the transformer collided with the bottom structure of the bridge, causing several openings to the top cover, exposing the core. Temporary repairs were conducted and the damaged transformer was returned to the maker at Nijmegen. We were appointed by insurers of the cargo through a Belgium client. Several surveys were conducted in the workshop and extent of the damage and estimated repair cost were reported.
